Education plays an important role in the lives of our children. It is even more important in the lives of children on the Autism Spectrum. Programs and curriculums are geared toward finishing high school, taking college classes or getting into a trade school. What about quality and enjoyment of life as an adult? Can this individual cook a meal, go to a movie with friends, or hold down a job? It is our job as educators to educate the whole student and not just the academics! We need to explore these young adults full potential. At center where these individuals will learn academics related to employment, daily living skills, community based activities, and socialization with other young adults. We are calling it the Belong Center! A place where these young adults are given the opportunity to belong and enhance their quality of life by learning to be independent, get and maintain a job and enjoy the rich qualities that only true friendships can bring!
